I would hope that contracts with Japanese and Korean shipyards is seen as a short term expedient. Our navy is desperately in need of hulls in the water and what is left of the industry can't deliver in the short term. So let's turn to allies while we get shipyards built. Then reshoring becomes feasible.
"...Section 307 of the Tariff Act of 1930 bars the importation of goods made with convict or forced labor"
It would totally suck for Apple if this were actually enforced. Pretty sure those Foxconn factories with the suicide safety nets would qualify. Never mind decades of Nike shoes, etc. The virtue signaling Left are the first to fall in line behind shaming campaigns when it's fashionable. And the first to step out of line as soon as The Next Thing hits their iPhones.
Just keep the shipping containers of cheap goods flowing in, thank you.
