I feel that a key point was missing from this very worthy subject. The fact is that modernity permanently changed the division of labor between the sexes by reducing the relative importance of physical strength versus intellectual power. In effect, it greatly increases the opportunity cost for women relative to men. Now women have more choices than they traditionally do. Our society has not adequately adjusted to that yet. Feminism responded by making women more like men. It achieved some superficial equality at the expense of diminishing the richness of both sexes. To me, a straight forward economic adjustment will be to establish a Minimum Motherhood Income Insurance to compensate for the economic opportunity cost of motherhood. It will reduce the economic risks of motherhood that women otherwise face by having children versus pursuing careers. Obviously, this is not a magic bullet and there will still be plenty of women who prefer careers than motherhood. That is perfectly normal and OK. Even a 10-20% shift in overall preferences will have a massive impact on increasing birth rate and enriching social diversity between the sexes.
