Here's a great article on the concept of moral arbitrage ("The Strip Mining of Trust").

Very well structured and fun podcast. You've got to give it to Judge Glock for honesty and clarity of thought: profit is extraction. That's it, ladies and gentlemen, in case you had any illusions. Profit is extraction. And business is a racket.

great podcast. I think there’s a basic problem with definitions at work. Capitalism is better defined as the thing commonplace is criticizing—a view of the economy that is indifferent outcomes. It’s an ideology of laissez faire at its most essential.

What common place is defending the perennial idea of a market economy oriented to the common good. This is exactly what the economist Heinrich Pesch SJ wrote about in the 19th century. A critic of both socialism and capitalism.

The problem is that way the capitalists have hoodwinked the public into equating all market activity with capitalism, which then smuggles in a lot of ideological baggage. And there’s no way to separate out the baggage without being accused of inconsistency or socialism.
